"Your time at the riad will leave you with a ' hikaya ' ( story ) to tell"
Seven En-suite Guest Rooms
Riad Hikaya -'hikaya' meaning 'story' in Arabic - is a luxury boutique hotel located in the royal Kasbah district of the medina, only a short walk from the main square, Jemaa al Fnaa, and the city's other famous landmarks.
This brilliant riad is the product of three years of meticulous restoration by local craftsmen and artisans, who employed both traditional techniques and materials in order to transform the riad into an authentic, yet high-class structure. The harmonious blend of ancient tradition and contemporary comforts, coupled with our emphasis on quality and personal service, will create for guests an unforgettable and unique experience for all guests.
Hikaya’s seven double bedrooms all feature an en-suite bathroom and are all decorated and designed to the highest possible standards of comfort and elegance in handcrafted, artisanal decor.
The Riad’s pool is heated all year round and the roof top jacuzzi, cloaked in a bedouin tent for added intimacy, soothes aching limbs after a day discovering the wonders of Marrakech. Alternatively, guests can pamper themselves in our traditional hammam – a popular Moroccan steam bath - and let Laila, our in-house masseuse, give them a traditional Moroccan massage using natural products.
The two roof terraces, planted with orange, lemon, grapefruit and pomegranate trees, offer superb, open views onto the snow-capped Atlas mountains. Guests can enjoy a leisurely, sun lit breakfast; sunbathe under a clear blue African sky; or relax in the cool shade of the caidale pergolas. As evening falls, prepare to dine as the sun sets to the accompaniment of the evening call for prayer. The choice is all yours.
Our friendly staff - Maryame, Lubna, Fatima, Laila and Lahsen - will do all they can to ensure that any stay with us is unforgettable. We hope that your time at the Riad will leave you with a 'hikaya' (story) to tell and memories to share for a lifetime.

Here at Hip Marrakech we also offer a variety of excursion and tours in and around Marrakech from day trips to the Atlas Mountains to day trips to the desert. Here are a few examples of the trips and excursions we offer:
Ouzoud waterfalls
For the more adventurous a three hour drive will take you to the mid Atlas and the majestic Ouzoud waterfalls, the highest in North Africa, with three spectacular tiers. This is also the home of the famous Barbary apes, the naturally tail-less monkeys that you find performing in the main square in Marrakech. It is delightful to see them roaming free in their native habitat.
Price: £92 for 1 to 4 people
Duration: A day trip of approximately 10 to 11 hours
Imlil, High Atlas
Also highly recommended is a trip to the high Atlas village of Imlil, gateway to the magnificent Jbel Toubkal crowning wonder of the Atlas range and the tallest mountain in North Africa.
Price: £62 for 1 to 4 people
Duration: A day trip of approximately 7 hours
A night in the Desert
The desert is not so close to Marrakech, more than a hundred and fifty miles, and of course the Atlas mountain range sits in the way so the route to the Sahara at Zagara is seven hours drive. That makes a one-night excursion to the dessert a packed itinerary. Leave Marrakech at 8.00 am, drive down via Ait Ben Haddou stopping at its famous Kasbah then Ourzazate and on to Zagora.
Price: £248 for 2 people
Duration: A one night and two days excursion.

"This Riad, which oozes with atmosphere and charm, is tucked inside the medina walls but within walking distance of the main square, and offers peace and tranquility, combined with the warmest of welcomes. The days started with wonderful breakfasts up on the roof terrace with great views over to the Atlas Mountains, followed by hours filled with exploration and discovery - John's knowledge of the city is excellent and he was keen to share this expertise either on a personalised tour or with recommendations of places to see, shop and eat, places which we simply would not have found left to our own devices. Returning to the Riad, a quick and refreshing dip in the courtyard pool was inevitably followed by relaxing on the roof terrace followed by simply delicious home made evening meals under a starry sky. Going to bed was a another treat - the rooms are sumptuous and traditional, giving a feeling of being somewhere very special."

"We loved this Riad! Why? First, because the quality of the decor is exquisite both in terms of style and attention to detail. Secondly Riad Hikaya is the most peaceful and relaxing place to stay even though it is at the heart of the old city Medina. Thirdly John's hospitality is warm, considerate, and his knowledge of the city and culture is exceptional and fourthly the roof terrace is magical both in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for supper! The food is delicious home made and traditional and so fresh. The pool in the middle of the Riad is the perfect place to be after a day in the markets and streets of Marrakech and John, as well as being a superb host, was the perfect guide in the city the day he accompanied us. All in all the Riad is a real jewel in the bustling Medina, not to be missed!"
Nicola, London, UK
"Top quality accommodation and splendid furnishings with warm and friendly service, dinner under the stars, and real attention to detail from John, it is difficult to overpraise this boutique hotel. The surroundings are ideal for a peaceful stay and yet with the exciting hustle and bustle of Marrakech only a few yards away. We look forward greatly to our next visit."
Andrew, Birmingham, Uk
"We spent 4 nights here and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences we have ever had. It was like being in a family home - well, a very luxurious and comfortable family home."
Brian, Liverpool, UK
"We stayed here for a weekend break, and everything was simply fantastic. A wonderful warm welcome from John, and he and the staff could not have been more helpful with arrangements and advice. The location in the Kasbah is perfect in my view, within easy walking distance of the square and the souks, but not in the main hectic bustle. If you want to feel like a house guest in a home from home this is definitely the place."

"The free Hipmarrakech App has proved amazing for our clients. It gives them confidence to navigate the medina knowing they can always find their way back our house, even with NO data roaming switched on. Further it locates many restaurants in Marrakech that our guests like (some of which give discounts to those with the App), and then helps them find their way back to the riad easily. Further, they can also book excursions in or around Marrakech at short notice."
