"A luxurious travellers riad with a contemporary relaxed ambiance"
Stepping back into a colonial past, minus any negativity, is what greets guests at the mysterious, quirky yet wonderful Essaouira Riad, La Maison des Artistes. This property is set up for the more luxurious but hardened traveller still rooted in their exploring youth but wanting to do so in a more age relevant and lavish style.
Frequented by several famous and infamous characters over the years from music, literature and politics, due to its atmosphere of clarity, openness, welcoming and serenity, plus the owner Isabelle is a joy to be around. This UNESCO listed Riad is a special place in Essaouira with a special history still present from the arrowslits seen on the terrace facing the monstrous Atlantic beyond with all sorts of hiding secrets.
Owner/ manager Isabelle is regularly on hand to make your stay delightfully vibrant, fresh and relaxing. A friendly atmosphere and joyful team, guest are invited to become part of this close family.
Rooms in this Essaouira Riad are commonly squared with either cosy separated ensuite bathrooms or delightful but intimate regal wooden mobile partitions alongside a collection of brilliantly retro furniture and artwork reminding you of how your rural bohemian aunt would have lived during 70s. Suited to a fresh and carefree mentality, what the bathrooms lack in luxury they make up for with old-fashioned charisma.
Aside from the unusual yet curious collection of international décor, the breathtaking feeling you get on seeing the ocean view from the avant-guard roof terrace accompanied by arguably the best bedroom and terrace view in Essaouira, is definitely one of the main pulls to this Riad.
